Yes, and no. In bf3 the game uses as much vram as your card has, but how much is actually needed is debatable. Doesn't matter if you have 1gb vram, or 4gb vram, bf3 is going to use it all, I just don't know the minimum that is needed for smooth gameplay @ 1080p.

Cool man, good luck with build. Check out some of this month's Phantom mods, you will want to do the same to yours, specifically the k.3nny mod.

You want the better performance go GTX 570 or any Nvidia card for that matter. If you're on a budget go AMD/ATI...The only thing AMD has going for it is the pricing.

Let me put it to you like this....If I were building another system for myself I would go Nvidia. On the other hand, if I was building one for my 7 yr old son I would go AMD....

For the price/performance aspect I don't think it can be beat for modern games, ie BF3 specifically. The added vram of the Toxic will come in handy for bf3, vs the 1.2gb on the gtx570. Go check the bf3 performance thread, hd6950's seem to be performing better than gtx 570's IIRC. You should be able to achieve hd6970 like performance with the Toxic, that's why I recommend that card over other cheaper hd6950's.

MW3 won't matter, you could play that maxed out 1080p with your GTS250 more than likely.

[edit]I forgot your were upgrading your PSU to 750w corsair. With that PSU, you could look into SLI/crossfire options. SLI/crossfire comes with it's own set of issues, so I have a hard time recommending that. I had 2 GTX470's in SLI, and had no issues in any of the games I played in the last year, but I think other people have. My issue was that I broke one of my gtx470's, so I was down to 1, and that just didn't cut it for bf3, hence the gtx580.
Lmao, no it doesn't...Stop drinking the Kool-aid. Why would you give him that advice when he could buy a non-reference 570, overclock it and easily match the performance of a stock 580? AMD/ATI are budget cards and only offer better pricing, where as the performance crown goes to Nvidia.

If this is decision by democracy, I vote to give $ to AMD since they seem less corrupt than the greenies.

Really?

Those benchmarks were posted 2 days ago. And I see the 580 and 6970 head-to-head.

Good luck finding a card that will unlock, especially if its new. I thought they blocked that ages ago.

The 2GB on the 6950 will be much better at "monster resolutions" than the 570s 1.2GB

I posted this one the 1st page.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...k=toxic%206950

They are still flipping the switch to the 6970 bios.

Yes, that is exactly what his post said.
