Also, if you could link me to which version can be unlocked of the 6950, and also your opinion of the best overclockable GTX 570, I'd appreciate it. Thanks
Get this
evga gtx570 classified (822mhz core clock)
it is the highest clocked gtx570 out in the market
else you can get msi gtx570 twin frozrIII PE.
Hope this helps!

Truth hurts, doesnt it? I'm not saying that the 6950/6970 arent good options , because they offer the best price/performance ratio on the market.
Wow, you really are THAT ignorant aren't you? First of all [H] is more inclined to Nvidia cards. Hell, Kyle himself has 580's in SLI. So, with the benchmark the other guy used, says a lot from the performance and the validity of the review.

I'm partial to the GTX570. I have an Asus DirectCU II 570 and I have it OC'd to 930core without issue. The thing is also so quiet.

Be sure to get a nonreference 570 has they have a beefed up pcb and power delivery system.

eVGA Classified 570, MSI 570 Twin Frozr III, and ofcourse the one I meantioned. I'm sure there are a couple more, like a Gigabyte one?

IMO, you should wait until Black Friday deals and then pillage them for a great deal on a new rig.

blah blah blah blah look at you guys arguing away here.
OP said he already bought the card, jezus....

just to contribute, I had the Toxic 6950 for a few day and it ran hot, i was seeing numbers between 80-90 under load, the fan stayed at 20%-30% and just wouldnt ramp up, and when I manually turned it up boy was it loud, like a mini turbine engine. My case is not what you call an airy case so I returned the card for a more deserving home. But during the time I had it I loved it. I replaced it with a TF III 1GB version instead, and i love this baby just as much.

Oh I agree Indilinx, I have a 6970 2GB and stock cooling its idle @ 57DegC. I play Lord of the ring online with Auto Fan and it hits nearly 90. I have to ramp the fan upto 50% ( 3007 RPM by MSI Afterburner ) the sound is rather loud but its talk-over noisy. They do overheat but my Case only has 1Front intake, 1 rear + 1 roof exhaust fan. Need to get my watercooling sorted!

+ 1 for that card. I would not speed $300 at this point for a card with 1.25GB of vRAM. As far as people like to claim even with Nvidia having better drivers HD 6970 is still faster then GTX570 end of discussion.

+ 1080p is casual games resolution now. Its 1440p/1600p if you want to enjoy games for that they are. Why do you have to be if this if that when HD 6970 does both better.

The 570 takes majority of the performance benchmarks, but overall it is back and forth....The 6970 is on par or slightly BEHIND the GTX 570, end of discussion. You're so caught up on vRam, but you choose to forget that the 570 also comes with 2.5gb of memory.....I have a couple of 570's and 580's, I've also owned a couple of Sapphire 6970's prior to that....
