Overclocking help Phenom II X4 920 currently @ 3.4GHz

post #1 of 7

Hi, this is my first post and i'll keep it short.

I overclocked my processor thats not black edition so im stuck with the 14x multiplier.

The only thing i changed was the cpu clock to 243 MHz.
243x14= 3,4 GHz

I tried OC'ing it to 250 mhz = 3,5 GHz but it made my system unstable. (crashed after 10-15 minutes)

Can i OC it higher in any way? changing frequency not working currently since it causes crashes.

What about the CPU Voltage or HT voltage or something else. Im new to this stuff so please help me out.

My CPU is currently at about 53 Celcius during load so not so much.

You can try lowering your RAM multiplier to see if it helps with stability. Also, try increasing both the voltage for both cpu as well as cpu-nb.

How high could i increase my CPU/cpu-nb voltage without risking anything?

Both of these are stock values atm

Edit: Thanks for the help btw and for a very fast response.

You said your CPU is currently at 1.42v. The max that I'd consider safe for 24/7 usage is 1.45v, though I've seen many OCN members who are comfortable up to 1.5v. As far as CPU-NB voltage goes, I'd guess that it's also safe up to 1.45v.

Hope this helps, and you're welcome! I've owned and OC'd 4 Phenom IIs, and I love helping others OC theirs.

Thanks for the info. Im trying to setup my computer mainly for gaming but folding while gaming so the extra cpu power will prolly help
