Well... most of the stuff is CLI. I know you're using a WM, but that doesn't change the fact that you have 5 terminals tiled upon eachother.

That's pretty 1337. I thought IBM model 1370 could only display a maximum of four terminals at once! Is this some next gen? BTW as for color scheme you know they make CGA monitors now? right?

Sorry. Your starting with Linux only 2 months ago made me wonder if you have terminal experience.

Also watch out for "scrotwm". It is my understanding that a single typo can cause irresistible urges to scratch the underside of the mouse!

If you'd really like to avoid customizing madness do give Slackware at least a good read, if not a try.

Here is my kdemod setup..........Arch x86_64 with kdemod 4.4. I love kdemod. So many useful apps, plus the plasma workspace is awesome for working with a large amount of open PDFs, word documents, browsers, etc.

Thanks man. If you like KDE, then you can either install kubuntu, or uninstall Gnome and install KDE (or just keep Gnome, install KDE, then change your login options)

I personally love KDE, but you either love it or hate it. IMO it has the best apps Linux has to offer, plus I like many of the small things it offers like OSD already installed and working for my laptops function keys.

No. If you are using KDE, you probably don't want Compiz, since KDE has its own built-in compositing WM (KWin).

Yeah, you have Gnome, so I'd run compiz (Heck, I'd probably run compiz from KDE anyways just because I'm already familiar with it)
