A lot of folks still do. But I think for the most part people have warmed up to it, me included. With the release of 11.10 it definitely underwent a huge improvement, and now I always find myself going back to Ubuntu.

I'll never get used to it. In my opinion it wouldn't be so bad with a tablet or a touch device, but as a desktop environment, I just don't see the direction Unity and Gnome 3 are going.

In fact, getting into a graphical, or even a command line environment was a even challenge. In normal mode, or compatibility mode, I would get a blank screen and nothing else.

Oddly enough, both underwent UX testing. So somebody obviously thought it was a good idea.
