I don't hate Unity, not sure that I "love" it, but it is an interesting and different layout.

Interesting and different is what Linux is all about.

I just miss the Cube. frown.gif It's what brought me over to Linux so many years ago.

Use unity, it isn't bad really. It's just a different way of organization, that's how I see it. Gnome-Shell has more customization for it but I doubt it will debut on a tablet like Unity will. Those tablets are gonna be SEXY.

Does Unity have HUD working finally? That was one thing I was thinking trying out Unity for. Still...if it is a difficult to find the ways to customize as people claim (they say the same about Gnome3) then I probably won't be happy.

gnome3 is beastly at customization right now, sure there aren't as many plug-ins but it's just a baby (essentially). HUD? Was that the search/run/whatever box option? I think it's working now, they are trimming up stuff for tablet releases which apparently are coming early (2013!). I'm super excited to get tablets running linux, that's way better than a laptop. I don't game on the go, can't live without my desktop for gaming just isn't right.

Might be the only place I like Gnome if I ever get the chance to try it. Still wanting to try plasma active though as that looked really awesome too.

Yeah, HUD was the search thing that integrated into everything...so it could search any open programs' menus and the OS itself.

I don't think HUD is installed by default in Unity 12.04.

Bummer...I guess it's not finished yet then. Or did they turn it into part of dash?

So after a 4 day fight with Debian, I finally won the war. Got wireless working after upgrading to wheezy for the second time around. Absolute no-go with Squeeze. At all.

Time to mess with something other than Arch for a while since I finally got my Broadcom chips working in Debian which was one of my biggest reasons for not using it, computers aren't any fun without the internet rolleyes.gif
