Does this count? ^^

Fedora + Gnome3 (fallback mode) in VMware Unity.

The screenshot was testing Qt, cross-platform UI development.

I can make shortcuts to anything in Linux, so I can start Nautilus/Terminal/Whatever from the start menu... but I'm trying to make it a bit neater.

Thats pretty cool. What fedora release / gnome version are you using? The lastest gnome 3.4 supports usig the cpu for 3d (due to complants it wasn't working in vms)

I'm using Fedora 17 64-bit with gnome 3.4.x, how would I go about turning on CPU support for 3d, or is it default?

I'm using gnome in fallback mode so its more like gnome classic, I don't know if that CPU support is only for desktop effects or for programs too. I know VMWare already supports openGL passthrough.

Werid then. Should work in 3d fine if its gnome 3.4. If you want the more gnome2ish type stuff, just install the cinnamon shell

Cinnamon is just Gnome-Shell with preinstalled extensions. If he wants more Gnome2'ish type stuff then XFCE is the choice.

And you can make Gnome-Shell look and feel like Cinnamon without having to install a whole new DE just for it tongue.gif

I've tried XFCE, Unity and Cinnamon (and a few others). MATE was nice, but gnome in fallback mode behaves well with the VM.

Just wondering... where are all the visual settings for gnome? I don't seem to be able to find anything... like changing the window style?

Install Gnome-Tweak-Tool and User Themes Extension from here

Perfect, thank you!

Now I'm going to try and build a kind-of applications menu on my taskbar.
