I hadn't logged into a Windows install in so long that the filesystem degraded to the point it did. Totally my bad; so I paid the price. Luckily, I recently put together my raid array for my NAS in a temporary enclosure, and had migrated all the data to that. All's good now, ext3 on that partition, and the system is back up and running just about the way I had it before (I missed the font package, rewrote all the config files, have all the same software and the same scripts back in, lost the wallpapers)

I'm probably going to shy away from the hot female wallpapers again; as much as I enjoy the female body, it bothers me having it for a wallpaper for some reason...
anyways, scrot of the system now:

Why would you do that devil.gif

Aight, I'm now aware that it's possible to assign more tags if necessary :-) now thinking of a nice way to make use of it, probably leave numbered as they are, and make extra tags like mod+w for web, mod+i for im, an such...
Have serious suspicions that I'm going through a many-times-before treaded path wink.gif
That said, ... after using tiling wm's I now realize that I've no apparent need for any systray at all :-)) no distractions,..and such :-)

If you don't use Skype, that is. I do, and skype without systray is suicide. I hate having the window in my way, and there's no way to call back skype window aside from tray. running skype again runs a copy of it.
I personally use Awesome, and already includes a tray area, so it's all good for me.

Well yeah, it's all task specific of course, otherwise I would've also had to make myself fit anyhow :-) I don't use it (never had the need to so far) but could imagine you saying a couple words towards the skype dev's :-)

To MS programmers? I don't think they would be nice things when it comes to skype...I would ask them why their program is the only one that stops working after being prelinked. LOL. But I think MS would simply reply they're making skype as a charity for Linux and if we don't like what they're doing we can...you know. I mean MS may help with adding things for the kernel(so I hear)...but I know they're not doing anything that would jeopardize things they own working better on Windows than Linux.

Well before Microsoft bought them, Skype clearly has shown their complete lack of care about the linux binary. they only recently updated it to 4.0, after being at version 2.2 for years, then shortly before (a few months), updated to v2.3. The only reason they update the non-Windows binary is to keep up with features that generates them money (Skype wi-fi, etc). There's no dedicated maintenance on the binary, per se. Enormous amount of messages in the various versions of the Skype forums, spanning over many, many years, and none of the real problem ever has been solved. Pulseaudio Support (nice, but alsa trick worked fine), Skpe Wi-fi (who on desktop needs that stuff...?).

Also, the prelink issue existed in v2.2 as well, and I suspect it always has been.

Not to say that it completely refuses to work on wheezy-based #! linux.
Such a shame, for a program that doesn't really have any decent alternative. And by alternative I mean not forcing everyone I know to create another account on another system that offers less features or is of worse quality for the sake of talking to me.

That why I assign a tag and layout just for messengers smile.gif

Keeps the main to the left and uses a grid for the rest on the right like ||++

Not eating space when space is infinite. Beauty of tags/deskops/workspaces.
