Holy crap! Something must be wrong with your Windows, before I switched to Linux I had Windows 7 using 700-900MB idle and no more than 1.5GB while using Chrome, that includes 24/7 folding.

The more RAM you have, the more Windows will take for itself.

You have only 6GB. All my computers have 16 or 32GB.

Top 3 along with aw0ken and Gnome-Colors have always been my favorite top 5. Plenty of others there for you to look at as well tongue.gif

Just extract them to either ~/.icons (local user only) or /usr/share/icons (system-wide for all users)

Thanks. I chose Elementary, but they won't show up in the System Settings->Appearance->Icons frown.gif I use Xfce 4.10.

That seems like a stupid design choice, I can only see that being useful on really low end computers.

That's Windows above basic edition with Service pack 1 for you.
My windows install has around 40 services turned off and it stills eats around 1.3GB idle...
beware the Google Chrome Memory Bloat Monster! (been browsing many many pages for the past 4 hours) Warning: Windoz bloat picture! Shocking! (Click to show)

Uuuh. More memory given to applications usually means faster execution. Linux does the same, in a more efficient/less greedy way.
