http://www.overclock.net/t/1205216/guide-create-a-gaming-virtual-machine

This guide shows how to run a gaming OS off of a Linux host, so it at least is possible.

Learning to virtualize an OS is my "Weekend Linux Goal", so even if I cannot game on it, the process will give me valuable experience that I may like to have in the future.

Right. Sorry for the small bit of misinformation. Let me correct this: Oracle VirtualBox will not allow you to do such thing, as I mentionned.
Qemu is more adapted to this, and I don't know Kwin at all.

Not a problem sir, thanks for the prompt info anyways. thumb.gif

I was looking at the KVM page in ArchWiki, and it says KVM is "simpler" because it is built-in to the Linux kernel. Can I also take this to mean "faster" or "lighter" because, being built-in, it is more optimized or integrated?

EDIT: For those on 20 posts-per-page, we're on Page 404!

yah, KVM. So many K's I'm getting lost in there. Well, in theory and from feedback I read, KVM is better. That being said... I didn't really "used" it before as much as I used VirtualBox, but I'm sure Shrak will come with an answer soon. Shrak knows it all tongue.gif

Compiz standalone running with Nautilus and Cairo Dock. Not too super fancy yet. I want to find a way to cleanly log out switch users reboot etc from a menu. I'm guessing I need a session manager to link that in. If I can integrate the iconed menu options in Cairo I'll be happy. Next steps to find graphics I like and try to build a custom theme for the doc and windows decorators.
