I guess I'm just frustrated that people think mimicking OSX is the way to get a broader audience when there is so much more potential to create unique GUIs that can be so much better. Then again this is also that whole question as to why Gnome is the implied de facto.
I honestly think you focus on things that you shouldn't be. PearOS is built to be a blatant ripoff, so what? they aren't forcing you to use it. Elementary is going for a more sleek and professional look, not ripping off OSX, unfortunately that look is pretty limited when you choose to use lighter colors in the white / light-grey range.
People don't think mimicking OSX is a way to get a broader audience, they just want a good looking OS. And if it does bring in some people, then great.
If you think there is honestly "that" much potential, then quit crying about what other people are doing and go do it yourself. As the old saying goes " if you want something done right, do it yourself ". If you don't know how, then learn how. If you're too lazy to learn how, then just quit the bickering. No one is forcing to use PearOS or Elementary, so just ignore them and be on your way.
Linux is about choice, so don't get your panties in a bundle with what other people are doing.
