Edit: Redacted.
Version 2: That's certainly nice to "automagically" configure it, although I keep seeing linux transformed into an other Windows...
"About time" wouldn't exactly be the way I'd present it, since I didn't find it painstakingly difficult to set it up the way I wanted.

You are supposed to read the manuals. And as a matter of fact, I set up my first multi-monitor config under 5 minutes just by looking at the Xrand's GUI.

And with this, it will be 5 minutes faster. Why the complaints? With luck it will be easily ported to other DEs too.

EDIT: It's also sponsored by both Red Hat and Blue Systems, but I guess they just didn't read the manual either?

Well, okay. But I've always found multi-monitor configuration to be more hassle than it should be. I'm an Xfce user, but maybe KDE can get a trend going.

With propriatery drivers it's really easy, but with the open source ones, it needs too much work.

I've not run multi-monitors on Linux for about 10 years, but only girls read manuals
post #4546 of 7733
I don't think getting multi-monitor setups "working" (ie. extra displays running at the correct resolution and position relative from each other) is at all difficult. What is a pain is how well (or badly) many DEs are configured to use extra displays. A DE that works beautifully with one monitor can be a real kludge with two. Who wants duplicate menus on every screen? Unity users of course! At least KDE can be configured to have pretty independent panels that only display what is on that particular monitor (something that Win 8 doesn't even do by default). I'm not sure about GNOME 3 as I haven't run it in a multi-monitor setup any time recently.

Looks like Linux Mint 14 with KDE, and some dark theme with monochrome icons. A TF2 wallpaper with that.

Thanks bud

the o/s is in the picture on the menu with my name next to it just below the search bar tongue.gif

i spent a fair few hours messing with the different appearances avaliable

Icons: Monochrome (stock)
Colours: Produkt (download from theme manager)
window dec: Oxygen (stock) (changed colours on border)
cursor: Yellow (stock)
desktop theme: Ronak (download from theme manager)
wallpaper is TF2 of course thumb.gif

the task bar is moved to the right and stretched, then i added the digital weather station and moved some stuff around

hope this helps!

*edit the clock is a custom colour but there all widgets resized and locked. Also a tip is that under 'more settings' under the menu you put 'windows can cover' this way full screen browser will do the whole screen, but middle position locks to the frame of the menu, if you move the cursor on full screen the menu appears too just as it should.
