I had a lot of problems with OpenSUSE too. GRUB2 seemed to think it was old GRUB, and looked for normal.mod in the wrong directory. Network, as you said, didn't work at first. Currently I have issues with Catalyst, XvBA doesn't seem to work because film stutters in every video player I try, and I can't launch any 3D games. Let's hope soon-to-come future updates fix all this. redface.gif

My openSuse 12.3 clean install, the only problem (other then network) I had was with nvidia dirver permissions, and the network problem was solved by just loading the yast network module and reapplying the settings.

Those are hard to fix solve when it comes to live media... I don't remember seeing many distributions releasing new images for that (aside gentoo-likes and arch linux) frown.gif A shame.

I got Steam working! Apparently Zypper thought I wanted the 32-bit version, so it was nagging about missing dependencies at first. But I manually downloaded the 64-bit RPM from software.opensuse.org instead. biggrin.gif

There's a 64bit version? Arch only gave me the option of 32bit.

For OpenSUSE, apparently it is. The difference is that Arch's 32-bit version worked on both.
I'm pretty sure there isn't a 64 bit version of steam, because there isn't a 64 bit client for windows. It's probably the 32 bit client with the dependencies to make it work on a 64 bit system.
