Solyd-K (formerly known as the unofficial LMDE KDE) updated KDE to 4.10.2 this weekend.

interesting. First distro I've heard of based on LMDE. I can see the appeal though, while debian testing repos are solid bug wise the fact that it is a development distro means it can have breaks beyond what other rolling dostros can have. The LMDE UP system works well.

Yes its a great distro, they've just made a new update pack yesterday and I like the direction they are heading, programs like a custom steam installer makes life a little easier.

yes they have their own repo
Code:
deb http://packages.solydxk.com/ solydxk main upstream import
deb http://debian.solydxk.com/production testing main contrib non-free
deb http://debian.solydxk.com/production/multimedia testing main non-free
deb http://debian.solydxk.com/security testing/updates main contrib non-free

If you are running the unofficial LMDE KDE or Xfce you can point your repo to the SolydXK ones and turn them into the SolydXK distro, note they also have a Xfce version ... Solyd-X

being the newbie that I am, I like how you got your linux to look like that. How exactly did you accomplish this?

He is using "Gnome 3" as his Desktop Environment in that screenshot, the top bar is the new "gnome-panel" which I believe has since been refered to as "Gnome Shell." From there, the information panel on the lefthand side is a small, easy to configure, scriptable status monitor called "conky." From there, you can use Google's reverse image search to find that wallpaper, I can't do it from work, but it should pull 'er right up.

why thank you thumb.gif . As mentioned it is a better basic gnome 3 look (a couple of css tweaks to the panel, but it's close to the original) what DE are you running currently? (cinnamon, unity, etc.) using either of those it's pretty easy just to install the gnome-shell. the readout on the left is conky, which is also jsut an installable package. I can give you my current config file for that if you want, it's pretty staght forward, so my guess is that like most people you'll be tweaking it in no time.
