looks like it, although i didnt like the all black tool bar so i changed that biggrin.gif

I changed the stock fonts and added a few window composition tweaks and some new icons. I also changed things like the menu size and added a second desktop switcher / clock on the bottom

as far as i can tell it operates as good as MATE / GNOME but with less overhead and so far no crashes ! solid as rock. The only thing i do miss a wee bit is the 'hot corner' but ho hum everything else is as i need it

btw how did you get the drop shadow on the main menu bar? i have it on everything else. I want to see if it adds to the look

my os is Mint 14 xcfe btw

Cheers mate. It's largely my own creation (inspired by all the wallpapers Shrak makes). All the source code in there is my own code: Music player for a car stereo (written in Go), Android App (Java), SQL for a CMS I wrote and a parser for news sites for a Perl IRC bot). The background layer was stolen from the net somewhere though. laugher.gif

I'll upload the wallpaper tomorrow smile.gif Do you want a flat PNG or the GIMP project file so you can tinker with the wallpaper yourself?

I think iv'e finally settled with a native linux install. Been hopping between Arch and ubuntu, and been hopping between DE for a while because each one has something wrong with it that annoys me.
Running the ubuntu 13.04 bet2 release. Seems pretty polished compared to its other releases.

One of the biggest reasons i've selected ubuntu over arch: sound function. No matter what I did in arch, i could not get my sound through headphones and speakers to work right whenever i muted and then unmuted the volume, as well as how have any weird muting behaviors when switching between headphones and speakers.

anyway, here's my screen shot:

I've found arch to be quite fiddly to get audio working on some systems. Not really sure why, but some PCs haven't been all that straightforward. Audio in Linux is just mess though - it's actually one of my biggest complaints about Linux.

So i've decided i can't stand ubuntu. it just seems too "bogged down" after having run Arch + XFCE for a while.

So i switched back to Arch, only i'm triyng out MATE this time, and the audio seems to be working well, except that whenever i use the mute key and then use it to unmute, it doesn't actually trigger unmute (which will get annoying). But i like this much better than ubuntu for sure.
