And what CPUs are these running? Is over 850mhz attainable? Do they have Kega aka Fusion emulator running on them yet?

I have a 512MB model B Pi running XBMC which isn't overclocked and that works fine. I probably should experiment with overclocking it though. I have found XBMCperforms massively better on the 512 model than it did on my 256 model b that preceded it.

I run OpenELEC. Debian is a bit sluggish on the pi anyway (arch performs much better) but OpenELEC has a ready built XBMC image for the pi with only the bare essentials installed so it's a great deal more convenient than rolling your own install.

I find pretty much just about any computer needs 1gb of ram, weather it be running 7 or xp. programs tend to eat up so much ram these days. (FF or Chrome) so i'm kind of surprised ot hear the 512 model runs so well.

My desktop rarely breaks 512MB of ram on normal use, lol. The Pi that's running nothing but Xorg and XBMC Standalone takes nothing.

yes, 900Mhz and 1GHz are usually fine

EDIT--

as to what shrak said I almost never use more then 850MBs daily even using a full DE (Gnome/Mate) on a 64bit OS. My Raspberry Pi has never gone over 400MBs.

that makes sense. i know when basic internet specially when flash is evolved usually eats up 450mb or high on my windows machines. 7 will eat about 320mb of ram with graphics turned down. Pi on the other hand if i'm understanding you right has bare bones os freeing up more ram. is the Pi bare metal?
