BC2 freezes pc - reset required

Thread Starter
Using sound card - still crashes. Sounds a bit bubblier now.. lol. Wasn't running afterburner. GPUZ, HWMonitor, Steam, avira and comodo were the only other programs.

OP BELOW
At first it was a BSOD 124.. I went into UEFI and changed the c states and such back as recommended in a guide on here. Now the game will randomly freeze. I have been lucky to make it through an entire "experience" w/o a crash, once. It, so far, only happens on BC2...

CPU went through Prime95 over night and is stable.

Progress:
-Replaced integrated w/ Sound Card.
-Testing... failed.
-???

By randomly freeze, does it lock up, and sound loop? I'm assuming you're talking about during MP, when you say "experience", is that correct? Are you using onboard sound?

If you answered yes to those questions, there is an issue w/ realtek onboard sound, bc2, and punkbuster. Caused that issue for me, I uninstalled the realtek drivers, and just used the windows drivers to solve the issue. I think you can also use the version 2.62 of the driver, but i just uninstalled it.

You can also try manually updating punkbuster, if you haven't done so, that is supposed to work.

I believe there is also an issue with punkbuster, msi afterburner, and amd gpu's, so if you're running AB, that could also be the culprit.

I have no issues. I use AMD GPUs' (had a 5870 before I sold it), and have pretty much always used AB and of course you need PB to even run the game. Once again, no issues.

OP, I know you said that your rig is Prime stable, but is it folding stable? I've found F@H to be one of the best "testers" in finding a bad OC. If it's 24hrs folding stable then you should be alright.

Or if you'd rather not fold for a day, try lowering your OC to 4.0 and see if you get the same issues. Or even try running it at stock and see what happens.

Right on, I guess I should have clarified, another hd6xxx series user was having similar sounding issues on the ea forums, and he said his fix was to not use AB. Again this is just what I read on the ea forum, just another thing to try. I don't even know if he's experiencing this type of issue, since OP hasn't been back yet.

I should have clarified more.. : /
It freezes and there is sound.. but it sounds like a buzz ("errrrrrrrrrrr").. is that a sound loop? I thought those were when it just replays the last 1s noise over and over and the like.
Experience is a "sitting", but yes, online.

And I also lowered my oc 100mhz after the 2nd time. It was prime95 stable at 4.8 and now sits at 4.6 or 4.5.. idr. But it's also stable here.

EDIT: I just got a sound card from a freebies on here and I'll install it soon.. see if that helps.

Yeah, that loud "brrrrrrrrr" noise is what I was referring to.

Try the sound card, that should take care of it. Uninstall realtek drivers, and disable onboard when you do.

If your getting freezes and bsod code 124 in BC2, this is generally always an indication of not enough vcore. Up your vcore and these issues will most likely go away.

See above posts.. BSOD was resolved and the problem persists.

Error persists... now it's an underwater version. Sounds bubbly, but still nothing audible.

Dang that stinks. My issue w/ the sound loop was resolved by uninstalling Realtek drivers.

Have you been playing w/o afterburner running as well? That guy in the EA forum with the hd6950 said his issue was resolved by using CCC, instead of AB to OC.

Outside of that, perhaps try running the game with no overclocks just to make sure that isn't the issue.
