Why does this even exist? Why can't they just take the raw input data and move the cursor 1:1?
Personally I can't even play BF3 right now because of the negative mouse acceleration. I understand that I'm anal in regards to this issue (even windows pointer movement without the CPL registry accel fix annoys me), but seriously, Quake 3 and counter strike had more accurate mouse movement, and this is sad.
I can't help but think that all of the game testers were using gamepads, because even a single developer using a 2000+ DPI mouse would have been presented with a nigh unplayable game.
Yeah, you must be talking about the lack of acceleration or too much acceleration. It's almost like there is a turn speed limit and you've got to turn the sensitivity up but then you're all over the place when you try aiming, whilst hitting the speed limit. It's just unnatural. What ever it is, raw input is being masked by the game and changing "raw input" options do nothing.
I spent about 2 hours last night trying Windows mouse settings, Set Point settings, DPI settings and BF3 mouse settings trying to work around it. If anything this has been my biggest problem with the game. I ended up turning the mouse speed in Windows down to 1, the acceleration in SP to 3, and BF3 mouse sensitivity to quarter up. I can still feel the limit but it's much less apparent.Edited by pengs - 10/27/11 at 3:16pm
