questions about Sandy Bridge

greetings

i`m noob in Intel , a friend of mine asked me about SandyBrige CPUs

so the questions are:

1- what is the difference between the regular i7 and a Sandy bridge?

2- is it real that a sandy bridge can easily beat any Phenom x6?

3-why there is an Intel HD graphic chip in the CPU, and what is the task of it?

1. Sandy Bridge is a new architecture - it is far more energy efficient, more effective per clock, and can overclock further.

2. Yes. Easily.

3. The graphics portion of SB is primarily designed for those who don't use seperate graphics cards, and can run some games at playable framerates, but one can use the Z68 and H68 platform, which allows the use of the integrated graphics, to accelerate things like video transcoding (Quick Sync).

1-so i can easily consider a quad core sandy bridge is way better than a 6 cores i7 (correct me if i`m wrong)

2-can you explain this point in short words

3- so it will only benefit someone with out separate GPU (meaning they can not work together )

1 - You are correct.
2 - It is mostly just adjusting the multiplier and the vcore, there are a few settings you have to enable/disable for higher OC's a lot of people can get up to 4.2ghz just by adjusting the multiplier.
3- On the z68 boards I know at least it can utilize both.
