Samsung Galaxy S Player?

Thread Starter
I came across the 4.0 version on Newegg,I think an Android based PMP would be a nice upgrade over my Sansa Fuze 8gb. But does the Galaxy Player sound better than a iPod? I don't want to downgrade in terms of sound quality from my Sansa Fuze either.
Is the single core 1GHZ hummingbird CPU with 512mb ram enough,or should I wait until next year for Tegra 3 based tablets/PMP's? Thanks in advance.

Personally I wouldn't get the S Player. I have the Galaxy S captivate, and its nice and all, but out of the box wasn't great. The stock rom is very bad IMO. Granted, that can be fixed but it shouldn't have to be. The music player on the stock firmware is quite bad also. Almost no sound customization. Also, I feel the power is just not enough to be smooth all the time, gaming or not. Thats just my opinion so take of that what you will

I wonder if the S Player can be upgraded to Android 4 ICS,most other devices with 2.3.5 can be. Does it not feel smooth even when only one app is being ran? Browsing while playing audio files can't be that demanding?
Reviewers say it only has around 380mb of useable ram,I would think it needs 1gb to be a media player you could multitask with.

I doubt there will be an offical ics for this player since it is quite old now. But there might be a unoffical one.

The sound quality on phones is usually much much worse than on dedicate devices. You're actually much better off getting an iPhone 4 tbh if you want music playing as the iPhone 4 measures far better than the Samsung Galaxy series for sound. So yes, it'll be worse than an iPod. The latest gen iPod Touch, iPhone 4 and iPad 2 all measure better than the Sansa Fuze however it is the bang-for-buck that the Fuze offers is what's most appealing.

inb4 usual iPod hate bandwagon. I don't have any bias tbh, I'm just stating facts here.

Source of your findings plz? Some say Droid powered devices sound better than a iPod,while others say iPod sounds better than anything.
