You don't "ship" a digitial download, so this was only physical copies. So it is almost all console copies...a small percentage might be PC, but I am sure most PC players would have done a digital download. So Steam sales would not have affected this number at all.

A sale is a sale. Doesn't matter if it's into a retailers shelves or a pair of grubby little gamer paws.
I believe this to be true...in anything else if a retailer or store buys stock they have to pay the producer/provider for it. The ratailers are taking the gamble that 10 million copies will sell, though I personally think that is a safe bet.
Though some companies will have rather intricate supply chain systems setup so that they keep nearly nothing in stock and it pretty much goes from the truck to the shelf...but anything that is loaded on the truck as been paid for.
