Antec 1200 V3 fan help

I am swapping out fans because I do not like the 4 pin power connector and I want to get red LED fans. Yeah I can mod the LED's on the fans to make them red instead of blue but I do not have the equipment or the skill to do so. When I take out and look at the front fans I notice that there are two cables, one for the power and another for that little knob on the front that controls the speed. What do I do with the cable for the knob and should I remove the knob or just color it black? I am getting Cooler Master R4-L2R-20AR-R1 fans and they do not have a second cable to go to those front knobs. I want to control the fans with a fan controller anyway though. Do I just cut the cable in the middle and push any excess cable to the side? Same with the fan controller on the top back of the case, do I just cut the cables with enough room to where if in the future somebody wants to hook fans back up to it they have enough room to do so?

all they do is adjust the speed, (the knob), so, when u take those fans out, and put in new fans, if the new fans dont have a similar knob or push button, when pluged in (to your mobo or molex) they will just run MAX (molex) or whatever your bios figures them to.

unless you are putting them through a fan controller, which if u are, fans with knobs and what not, should be let to HIGH, so that you can flucuate them the most
