For right now, we're on a trio of dual Xeon Quad rigs from the C2D era - the biggest bottleneck right now, and the source of those dreaded 500 errors, is the database server. It's struggling to keep up during peak hours.

Sure will be, and it will be much smarter. You'll now have the option to use an area called the 'activity feed', which is a real-time view of just about any content type or area you want. Also included is the ability to view a live feed of just your subscribed content, which I expect will be popular.

Don't think I have ever liked a site redesign, at least not of one that I was accustomed to for months/years before it changed. I hope this one doesn't feel the same way as all the others from my past. I guess, like anything, it takes time to get used to. It does look good, that I am not afraid of. I just hope everything isn't changed around so we have to go hunting around for them. Again though, everyone will eventually get accustomed to it if there are major changes.

Of course things are going to be in different places. But with the current platform there are loads of features that a lot of users don't even know about because they've been tacked on over time and aren't in the places that people might necessarily expect to find them. Sure, people who have been using the site for a while know where everything they need to use is, and might argue that it works fine. But I think OCN needs a redesign, and it wouldn't be a redesign if things weren't changed around from where they are currently.

With every change there will be some small learning curves. I do not think the new OCN Is taxing

I like your sig, ENTERPRISE. Should stop at least some people from going "omg! what's happened to OCN!"

Fits well with your username as well.

Not bad Could code it to have multiple DB servers, each handling its own section of the site, but its a bit late now
