I would love to know if this was designed with "reactive design" in mind by whoever you had build it for us? Because that would be the most amazing thing. Would never have to deal with tapatalk again!

Yep. Whole new hosting solution that brings us far better resources than we could run on our own.

It should work well - we've done some decent testing with mobile browsers and the 'full' site seems to place nice with almost everything. Tapatalk remains an option for those who prefer it, and down the road a native mobile skin is a definite goal.

Tapatalk yes, resource hog no. Though the new design is 'heavier', particularly in use of Javascript to enable all kinds of dynamic features, what the extra reliance on JS also allowed to happen was integration of dynamic loading features, which should keep things nice and snappy. Many content items (like avatars) are set up so that even if they are being slow, the rest of the content can keep on coming. No more holdups for an uncooperative image, or anything like that. To my knowledge, other than in adverts, there are no Flash UI features.

Sure does - and a wiki, and FAQs, and authoritative articles, too!

It certainly was, and will continue to be. The absolute best part about the fantastic team we're working with to make the technical side happen is that they're incredibly in tune to user feedback, as the folks in the sandbox can attest. Believe it or not, since the test phase started over 80 major features were added, in addition to too many minor tweaks to count. It only keeps evolving to meet the community's needs from here, but we think we've got an outstanding product to launch with. EDIT: Oops, misread - you meant the web design school of thought, I'm assuming, as opposed to just working with us on custom things? In that case, I can't be so sure on the exact paradigm used. Tapatalk remains an option, but we found the full site to play nicely with most common mobile browsers (Android, iOS, etc). Long term, a totally mobile-centric skin of the site is a plan.

Your edit was my main concern

Our company just did ours in this. It re-sizes based on screen size. You don't have to worry about a mobile platform in this way, as it reactively sizes based on screen size to begin with. In a web window, for instance, making the window smaller and smaller you will start to see a reactive design website start to automatically re-shape. You can even go as small as a phone screen and see what it would look like on a mobile device.

Example of a site that does this (not using my company)? http://www.mogotix.com/

You can see the menus and the content areas re-size as the window size changes. Might not be the most involved example, but it illustrates the point.
