MSI GTX 560ti Hawk SLI

Don't know if this is the right place to post this, so sorry if it isn't.

I finally went and bought a second GTX 560 ti to run in sli.

I'm running these 2 cards on a GA-990xa-UD3, with a Phenom II x4 955 at 4.0ghz 2600mhz NB. Both cards are running at 8x.

Everything is being powered by my Antec Truepower New 650watt and I haven't seen any problem.

I didn't know if I was going to have enough room to fit my sound card between the 2 cards, but I just had enough room for it too fit.

Since the second card came with the newer bios I had to set both of them to run at 40% fan speed and for them to ramp up evenly in MSI Afterburner.

I ran 3DMark11 advance to check to see how these cards would run in sli and I was impressed I doubled my score.

With 1 card my score was X1689 3DMarks.
with 2 cards in sli my score was X3233 3DMarks.

Here are a few pictures of the layout in my case.

This is very cool, hope you enjoy the performance. Anything with Twin Frozr and SLI is pretty sweet in my book.

Hi Rumilsurion,
What's your opinion of the MSI GTX560 Ti Hawk - hopefully it's good since you bought 2 of them. Don't u find them running hot and worse they're noisy?????
I've been a bit unsatisfied with the whine/noise they make....but that could be maybe it's my first serious game rig and i'm expecting too much or i mean expecting too little noise? I mean I couldn't hear my xbox (latest slim version) but i can sure hear the roar of my new pc now....

I love the MSI GTX 560 ti Hawk. I think they are the best 560's on the market unless you need that 2gb model.

As for heat, my top card hottest it's gotten is 69c and the bottom card at 67c, and that's because I have a sound card between the 2 cards so the top card gets a little bit hotter.

For noise yes they can sound like little jet engines taking off. What you can do is download MSI afterburner and set your fan speed profile lower than stock that way your card wont be as loud.

Hi Rumilsurion,
I am already using Afterburner - and finally what worked for me is to drag the Voltage slider all the way to the left and also to lower the clock speed to 733....so far the heat is about 63 celcius and the fan noise is quite bearable now.

Why did you SLI the cards? I mean i'm underperforming the cards (and running average 100FPS for BC2 - it feels ok) and still think it's fine and you guys are running SLI and OCing.....what am i missing out on????

Is there a new bios for the MSI GTX560 Ti Hawk? - i don't see any new bios in the MSI website?......

Very Nice. I have the same setup with 2 hawks and they are great. Just got bf3 and running it on ultra its super smooth.

These cards are meant to be overclocked, not underclocked. You can adjust the fast speed curve manually in the settings.

More performance!!!!! Depending on what games you play and what resolution you are using, more performance is necessary.

Did you forget that you are on overclock.net?

Cool story, bro

Love me my 470's with solid Cu TFII coolers. My fave cards I've ever owned, by a considerable margin.

If I were you I'd definitely mount a fan in that empty spot in the bottom

I've tried mounting a fan on the bottom and saw no temp drop. For intake I have (4) 120mm fans on the side panel, (1) 230mm fan on the front. For exhaust I have (3) 120mm fans on the top, (1) 120mm fan on the rear.

I think I have pretty decent air flow through my case.
