EA lied.. screwed me out of $60 :/ - Page 3

Rather silly (but works!) fix:

Dont run the game in full screen mode. Switch out of full screen, then you can resize the game window by dragging it just like any normal program window. You can drag it to be basically like full screen, but since its in a window, it appears to look proper.

You lose some FPS and performance by running in window, but *shrug* seems to be OK for now..

The game doesnt display certain aspects of the UI properly when using widescreen resolution... most importantly, there is a little icon over every players head.. squad mates are green, team mates are blue, and enemy (if you spot them) are red.

Well, these icons are not appearing over the players heads.. and as a result, you cant tell a team mate from an enemy or anyone apart really, thus making the game much much more difficult.

There are other minor problems too... the lense flares everyone keeps complaining about? Yeah, those are way worse on surround vision.. here is a good thread highlighting the problem:

http://forums.electronicarts.co.uk/b...s-scaling.html

There are other minor issues as well, such as when playing single player, the game gives you on-screen instructions on what to do in certain parts of the game.. these do not display at all in widescreen, so you have no clue whats going on or how to advance.

PC - No one in the competitive scene will take the game seriously. The lack of talent that is required to play this compared to BF2 is huge. The last competitive BattleField game was BF2 when it went to CPL with only ten teams showing up to the event with a prize pool of less than two thousand dollars. No ways to balance the weapons out. As of right now you can spray across the map with perfect accuracy as the guns recoil is way too easy to control and a pattern that too predictable. BC2 was the same way, and also the same reason for it to have a non-existent competitive scene.

Small tournaments are going to happen, Black Ops/MW2 are perfect examples of that. These tournaments die off quick due to lack of interest/developer support.

The last PC game that came out, that had a decent competitive scene was CoD4, which only lasted about two years.

MLG - The only PC game that has hit the Pro Circuit is Starcraft 2, enough said there.

On PC, the only games that are being played competitively are CS 1.6, CS:Source, CoD4 Only in Europe, Starcraft 2.

I'm not sure about Quake as I don't normally follow that scene, but I've heard its a dying scene as well. Correct me if i'm wrong Skylit!

Ironic I just posted about it myself, I should've made a thread. I'm experiencing this problem too.

At least you GET icons.
These are mine, and they disappear within seconds of the round starting.

So I'm stuck physically identifying enemy soldiers before shooting, even in regular game modes. Luckily, I'm not too shabby so I still kick some ass regardless of a handicap that alot of players don't have. I can't see any enemy spotting and stuff either.

What? Those icons are in the middle of nowhere. What do you mean looks fine?
Yeah, there is your problem.......

You play in 555555555x1080 resolution.

Oh, I see--thanks a lot for explaining. And yeah, that is annoying. Surely EA will release a fix? (I mean, it wouldn't be a BF game without a series of fixes...)
