Card for bf3 - Page 2

I can only post my own personal experience on this using the GTX 580.

Well I just got off campaign set to ULTRA after a couple of hours. My 580 with slight 13% over clock ran 50-70 FPS on ultra, I'd say 60 FPS average. I had FRAPS up but don't have a way to record. It's the free version, kept my eyes on it.

Had GPU-Z monitoring. My temps were 73C absolute highest, average 70C. Highest memory used was 1.474 GB VRAM. I thought from all the hype I was going to be crippled in ULTRA settings....not one bit. I thought VRAM was going to max my 1.5GB, came close but no cigar. Played without any stutter, lag, even during the most intense gaming areas with explosions, shooting, fire/smoke, people running all around and moving myself.

Sweet arse game.

Ive narrowed it down to a 580 or 570 sli. Which is better and why? Please tell me your problems/cons with sli and account cooling into the decision (have a haf932)

570 sli> a single 580 by far. If those are the only choices I'd go with 570 sli.. Your case will be fine.

while the sli 570 will be more powerful, does the op really need that much power for a single 1080p monitor? for bf3, i don't think so.

my recommendation is for a single 580. less power consumption, less heat inside the case, and no possible sli conflicts if any.

Id also like to add in my second pci slot is right near my psu. Room is tight there and alot of cables right under where the card would be. May be tough setting up cable management

If he wants to stay above 60 FPS at all times, yes

a single 580 (might want to overclock it a bit) will get you there. i play mp maxed out 4x aa with no problem.

all the more reason to go with a single card.
