Bad cooling with noctua chassis fans

Thread Starter
I just got me a pair of noctua NF S12B ULN http://www.noctua.at/main.php?show=p...6&lng=en&set=1 chassis fans for my antec case. One at the top and one in the back, saved me the $35 for the third one in the front, using Antec TriCool there.

I had never before mounted the anti-vibration rubber pins for a fan, so why not give it a try for these, since I want complete silence.

I took ridiculous amount of time to get the pins through the holes while holding the fan in it's place, especially when there was little as no space to work around in the case.

Anyway after a sturdy-time both fans were mounted and everything was ready..

what followed was not quite what I expected:

CPU 5-7°c higher
GPU 10-12° higher

Both tried with ULNA and without it - no difference.

Needless to say I have already RMA'd both of them..

Replaced the Antec TriCool and everything back to normal now..

The reason for a new chassis fans, is because I can hear the bearing or what it's called..

I just wanted to share this with you and maybe get your opinion on this.

I'm still wondering what fans I should get to replace the stock antec fans.

Those are 500-700RPM fans with very poor static pressure; I would look into low-speed Yate Loons from either Sidewinders or Jab-Tech.

Hmm, I haven't seen that one used that much, but I almost guarantee you you can't get 70CFM @ 14dBA.
