I kind of agree with this guy.

I mean I sit close to my monitors but by no means "face-to-face" with them. I would say about a foot and a half at most - probably closer when I game and maybe farther when I'm loungin'.

You also gotta consider that you're gonna have two monitors. For being 2.5' away, I would consider either 2 x 24" or at least 1 x 27". I would never give up the convenience of two monitors, though. And as you mentioned, you're keeping your 20".

If you go for the 27" inch, make sure:

1) You have enough room for both monitors
2) You will be satisfied with having a puny 20" next to a 27"
3) If you want to upgrade some day, you have enough room for another 27" (monitors look much better and are more ergonomic when they're the same size - the same brand/model helps too)

I think the decision to go big vs multiple displays is entirely dependent on the type of games you play.

I had 3x u2312hm monitors for week before I sent them back. For the past few years I have been using a 40" TV and a u3011 for gaming. Many may disagree, but I find the TV to offer a superior experience. I play mostly RPGs and racing games. For RPGs I don't think that multiple monitors is worth it, but a larger monitor is very nice. For racing games, there is no comparison to using three screens. Personally, I found 3x 23" monitors a tad small but sufficient. I'm planning to go with 3x 27" monitors or possibly 3x 32" TVs.

heye everyone,

thanks for all the input, really, its helped me make my decision of getting just bigger monitor and going dual view. + rep to the people that have helped me after i already repped ^^

anyways, i just have a question, i was playing BF3 on my 20 in monitor a couple of days ago at 1920*1080 to see how it would be like(all ultra, 4x AA, SSAO, 2xAF) and i was getting 70ish fps on Tehrans highway, but sometimes, when i needed to turn around real fast, or if i was looking at alot of action, it would go down to 30-40 FPS.

will this happen more frequently if i get a 24 in or 27 in? can i solve it by turning off my AA? (i have already started doing this, my settings are now: all ultra, 0xAA, disabled motion blur, HHSA @ 1600*900) and i see now difference in the image, but i definitely have better framerates now( 12-30ish in canals)

if i use the same settings on a 24in or 27 in monitor, even though i only have 1GB of memory, will i still be able to handle it?

edit: so i just played with the settings i stated above in Demevands Peak, conquest large. i was at 100 FPS and on average around 80-90 FPS, so i guess ill be good with a bigger monitor ^^ so excited!!

1920x1080 is 1920x1080 so it doesn't matter if you're on a 24" or 27" in terms of FPS.

Why dont you go with both? Get 3 27" monitors.

I know I don't have problems gaming with my single 6870 at 2560x1600. Certain games I do have to turn down or turn off aa but personally I think aa is overrated at real high resolutions.

Just my opinion. Don't think I would let your cards hold you back if you wanted to eyefinity the 27
