I'd go for the red Ripjaws memory, it matches the colors of your mobo + CPU cooler better and you can almost certainly just drop the CAS latency manually on the same voltage.

You could try finding some used parts or price matching.

Edit: Like the guy below me said, PSU is overkill, you can save some money by dropping to a 750-850w unit.

Power supply is overkill and I'm not sure if that 580 will fit in a 690

Thanks for the tips! Almost clicked order last nite on impulse.. glad I waited. Ill change to the red, good call.

580 wont fit? What do you suggest?

A few other quick questions.. will that cpu cooler suffice? Do I NEED that sound card for quality audio? With this build can I max everything out now and possibly the near future?

Thank you

the sound card depends on the quality of your speakers but right now i can tell you you don't need a 160$ card. If you've got basic 2.0 or 2.1 speakers, onboard audio should suffice.

Also id look at the Asrock P67 Extreme4 Gen3. Its just a good a motherboard, if not better than that Evga, for HALF the price. Also, drop the psu down to a 750w, the Corsair TX750v2

DEFINITELY spring for a full tower case if you're spending $2,000 on a computer. Easily the best investment you'll make.

NP. Edited my post to include motherboard and psu as well, you can shave almost 200 without sacrificing quality.

There's actually a ton of waste in that build.

No need for a 2600k for example. Hyperthreading actually hurts gaming performance.
Mobo as mentioned unnecessarily expensive.
PSU is not a good choice, and is more than needed.
Don't need a 3gb GPU for 1080p.
Case choice isn't the best.

I'll throw something together for you in a few min.

This, you can definately save on the motherboard. Possibly on the video card too, but thats up to you. Will you be overclocking the rig? You can shave some more go for the 2500k.
