Haha so true on that, and these GPU companies seem to make a new series every year and the 6000 series seems to be coming to a end I just don't wanna buy something this late within this series.

Precisely why my 5770 is holding me out at 1680*1050. Not to mention, I'm gonna revamp my whole rig when DDR4 comes out, and i'll also get a 7000 after they drop price.

Thanks for the replies, just wanted a idea of when they would be coming out.

I'll wait for the 7970

With my setup I get poor framerate (~40s) in BF3 on ultra. This game is a lot more demanding than Bad Company 2. Even with ambient occlusion disabled, the anti-aliasing in BF3 absolutely murders performance. And even with that turned off it dips way down at times. I'm not sure how AMD cards perform.

You could also try a pair of 460s or 560s in SLI. Those will provide higher average framerates than a 570 or 6970. Although you might run into VRAM issues and low framerate dips.

EDIT:

I have since updated my sig rig to reflect my recent purchase of a second GTX 570 and an increase of 4GB of RAM. At the time of this reply, I was running a single GTX 570 with 4GB of DDR3-1600.

I turned off AA and have everything else on ultra sounds like were getting around the same FPS.

Do you have the newest NV drivers?

The first batch of 7000 series cards are just updates of the current 6000 gen cards I believe. The 28nm comes later.

I wouldnt be waiting to upgrade to a 7000 until they are the 28nm chips, they wont be much different than the current series for a while.

^This. They need to work the kinks on the new architecture. You really might be better off with a 6970 now. Unless you're right on the verge (which indications are you're not) of a new card, best bet is to buy a time tested card that performs well. Besides, there's always going to be something new on the horizon. I've been waiting for SBe to upgrade my mobo/cpu but I'm going to have to wait a few months even after release to be able to see reviews and benchs and by then it'll be Ivy Bridge this and Haswell that. I don't know, I say go for higher frame rates now and start saving for a tried and tested card down the road. Just my !

Hate to tell you this but if thats the SIG RIG computer thats givign you bad frame rates then I believe your CPU is bottlenecking.

My sig rig is what I am playing BF3 on and im getting a 63 FPS average (min 58 max 80) during any game on BF3 on ultra maxed settings.

This could also be an nvidia driver issue. Ive seen a LOT more people on nvidia machines complaining of crashes and the like.

AMD too but it seems to be a lot more Nvidia. I'd try the latest drivers. If that doesn't work I'd upgrade to a newer CPU (And knowing intel that means new motherboard too)

I'm not sure CPU bottleneck is really to blame here. My 1100T is only running at about 200MHz faster than his i5 but my framerates on BF3 on ultra are sitting around 120, which makes sense since you're getting a little over 60 with one 6970 and I have 2 in crossfire. If the CPU were bottlenecking I doubt crossfire would scale to almost double. Are you OCing your 1090T?
