We'd have the same CPU/GPUs! I'll let you know how crossfire works out - I should have the game this weekend.

Why do they even bother testing non-HD resolutions anymore? I know people run sub HD still but can't they just mentally add on a few frames?

This just in: you can get away with a mid range GPU on Bf3 if you're running < HD. rolleyes.gif

and wow - looks like plenty of crossfire gremlins

This is what I wanted to see, but I wish they would have done some multiplayer CPU marks or non GPU limited single player marks. Would really like to see Bulldozers potential. I've got a hunch it's a bit more demanding in multiplayer.

My 5850 is barely able to keep up at 1080p... sad-smiley-002.gif

I know what You mean. I have 2 6950s and on multiplayer I have to turn down some aa. Even then I'll get fps drops. The 64 player servers do this to Me a lot

I'm running an e8400. Some settings on medium/high but nothing unplayable. That's of course on the 64 player levels.

I'm not sure what you guys are doing, but maybe some of you should consider having a better look at background applications and such. My system is no where near some of you and it runs well at 1080p.

Example: LCore.exe for logitech devices was hogging 50% cpu usage (might be other conflict causing this problem). Disabled it from startup. It's not really needed anyway.

I just ordered a new gaming rig off of newegg, and I was debating between the GTX 570, and 6950 2GB version, and ended up going with the 6950 Toxic. It's looking like I've made the right choice biggrin.gif I won't have everything until Monday...frown.gif

1680x1050 = Non-HD? rolleyes.gif It's the res I run, and the res plenty of other gamers run too. Why not include more resolutions, especially since a lot of people still use them?

Look at the Steam Hardware & Software survey. 23% of gamers use 1080p, but the next closest is 18% of gamers using 1680x1050. Personally, I don't like the aspect ratio of 1080p, so I'd probably go for a 1920x1200 monitor when I decide to upgrade, but they're hard to find and expensive.

Also, I'd rather run Ultra @ 1680x1050, than High @ 1080p. Until I have the funds to support more high-end video cards, I don't really want to get a high-res monitor, or I'll have to run games on lower visual settings. I'm sure there are other people that feel the same way...

Anyway, rant aside, it's good to see my guess as to what framerate my 5870 was running is about spot-on. I was guessing 40-50 FPS, and the benchies show 42-43. It wasn't butter-smooth, but definitely smooth enough to play. The problem I ran in to though, was that I had HDD lag. My poor 5400rpm 1TB can't keep up with loading all those high-def textures in game, so I'd have plenty of fraction-of-a-second pauses during gameplay... so back to High while I figure out what to do about a HDD.
