I'm glad my SGS II doesn't have the "drop and no moar screen" feature.

Apple has been dethroned. Sorry for the butt-hurt.

You don't buy a phone that shatters easily if you drop your phone a lot. I'm glad my 4S has an amazing screen (it literally feels as if it is at the very front of the display, rather than set back a bit like the 3GS) and is made out of glass, rather than plastic. I wouldn't appreciate that so much if I dropped my phone regularly... but that isn't a problem.

I'm not... however as I said. These numbers aren't necessarily accurate. Apple's sales for this quarter are down because the 4S was just around the corner, they actually sold 4.6m phones, not just shipped them, and Samsung's numbers are estimates which could be higher or lower, although I'd lean toward the latter.

Watch Apple maul Samsung in the 4th quarter... so I expect, anyway.

Dropping your phone is very common. The fact remains that the iPhone4 has a poorly engineered frame; it can completely shatter under a single drop! It really shows how poor the quality is of the iPhone 4/S.

You'd definitely lean in any direction that favours Apple. Not okay.

And if they don't, are you going to pack your bags like 3 did?

It isn't for me. It's not poorly engineered, which implies they didn't know what they were doing. It's intentionally designed so that the glass protrudes the frame which means the content on the screen literally looks like it's popping out of the screen which is amazing. The 3GS is less likely to break on the front because the frame covers it but the display isn't so great.

No, I don't. Don't mistake my constantly defending Apple from haters making ridiculous arguments as "favouring Apple in any direction".

What? They will, but if they don't I won't really care. It's still hard to expect a company that sells three phones to outsell a company which sells what? Fifteen? It's impressive Apple can keep up.

What? That has nothing to do with it, you can move the actual display closer to the glass without removing any type of border around said glass...
And yes, it is poor engineering. But I can tell its being forced by the marketing department in this case.

Yes you can do that but since the glass protrudes the border somewhat it seems as if it's literally popping out of the device, unlike my 3GS's screen which is as if it sits in the device. It's hard to explain but the difference to me is mind blowing.

Poor engineering implies a mistake, or something overlooked, not an intentional design. You might call it stupid for them favouring aesthetics over durability, but not poor engineering/design.

So the steering wheels with the pointed middles that literally impaled the drivers in a crash weren't poor engineering? The fact of the matter is, they've gone too far to aesthetics (Which should always be one of the lowest priorities to be honest) that they've gimped the design.

Good engineering would have both, the SGSII has that.
And I seriously don't get what you mean by literally popping out, every new phone has that as far as I'm concerned. (The shallow screen depth)

The iPhone 4/4S would have passed a drop test for safety. If it's anything like what we have to do in work you drop a weighted steel ball down a set length of tube onto an object. If it damages the object you have to make sure it's safe and no harmful substances, voltages etc are open to the end user. It's a bit crappy from a consumer viewpoint because, yea your phone won't stop working if you drop it the screen becomes unviewable. Costly on insurance but Apple makes money that way I guess.
