[BBC]Samsung overtakes Apple in smartphone sales - Page 4

Both are great companies. Samsung has WAY more phones, though.

*sigh* You guys done bickering yet?

Meh, pretty misleading title. Just sales for a 3 month period. Wasn't there a big samsung phone release bet. July and September? And wasn't there nothing new from Apple until October?

It's about time Samsung finally passed Apple.
And on top of that Samsung doesn't have to worry about the OS, they have it easy.

Apple design this chip.

Samsung produce this chip.

They are nothing but a production factory for Apple in terms of CPU.

I'm pretty sure Apple have the resource to build their own production plant and produce CPUs but its probably more cost effective for them to outsource.

I honestly wish people would do more research.
You have no idea the effort into designing a chip...

The A5 is based on an already established architecture. Apple didnt DESIGN this chip nor did it design the instruction set. ARM designed this processor from its superscalar pipeline to the single instruction multiple data instruction set since this is a vector processor. The A5 is an implementation of this. You wana tell people to do more research, I challenge you to the same thing.

Am very well aware of that which is why I quoted both...I knew the information that you had quoted already prior to posting my first post so I just used yours as an example...

So, what's the issue here? Quoted it to give you credit...Made a statement purely aimed at his conjecture...I'm confused as to why there's //ANY// issue but, whatever.

That being said, Samsung has actually made improvements to the materials used in the chip far beyond what was originally percieved/available and that is what I was actually referencing to.

There comes a point where the manufacturer has actually done more for the product based on overall ingenuity than the creator actually ever did himself...
