Eesh.

DVDs spin pretty fast, but I wouldn't imagine they have enough energy to impale a hand. Not to call the guy a liar, but no one can confirm what happened and he stands to get rich.

Looks like the track came loose whilst closing the drive and he literally pushed it into his own hand. I can see how that could happen, a lot more likely than the drive firing it out.

Seems like a pretty serious injury too:

OK, I can see the writing being difficult, and I'm sure it would affect, but not necessarily prevent, your golfing, but fishing? Come on! Many people get by with way worse disabilities than that and still manage to do the things they like. In the past I have gone rock climbing with a girl with one arm, a man with half a leg and several kids with various mental and physical disabilities. Fishing with a dodgy hand should be no problem. Sounds like he is milking it.

Well, kind of. That episode was about spinning discs fast enough to get them to explode, not parts of the track shooting out of the slot. I'm not really sure how that would be possible.

Quick, snatch it from him and throw it out the window with sufficient velocity for it to land at a safe distance. You just saved his life. He can thank us later by buying us pizza ;p

mmmm, pizza.

I'd like to see more. I can't picture in my mind how this is possible. Was it a Toshiba drive?
