[CNN]Why Amazon's Jeff Bezos is the next Steve Jobs - Page 3

I guarantee you he won't be the next Steve Jobs because I use amazon on an almost-daily basis, and have yet to hear of the CEO's name until just now. If he did want to be the next Steve Jobs, I imagine there would have been a lot more self-promotion and company hype.

edit--I think based on personalities, Mark Zuckerberg is more likely to be the next "Steve Jobs," though I think even that is unlikely since at least Steve Jobs participated in making products with a product company.

Allusions and addressing the ideas of Jobs having a position of "sainthood" aside, I think his presence and recognition might not be paralleled for quite some time.

The Stevejobs will always live on in my heart.

In my private moments, in my most desperate hours, I make a prayer to my Stevejobs for guidance.

All of my furniture is monochrome Art Deco (invented by the Stevejobs before he first took material form) and covered with chrome and white acrylic. My home is a Stevejobs shrine.

I wear a rancid black turtleneck once worn by the Stevejobs. I shall never wash it. Imagine! Cells of his skin, intermingling with my own as I wear it. I am getting more creative and visionary just by the thought of encapsulating my midsection in its funk.

On the very darkest days, I wish I was cancer. So I could remain where my heart wants me to be. Entwined in the holy eternal body of the Stevejobs.

Forever.

If Jeff Bezos is going to be the next Steve Jobs, can I be the next Jeff Bezos? Seems there is a rich and sucessful persona spare...

I hate it when people say "this person is the young / next / better X"; they are not. They are themselves, an entirely different entity. It would be better if they could say something like "who is going to drive or define the tech industry now" or "who is going to popularize tech now".

I wonder if Jeff now has a case to sue for libel?

Dennis Ritchie was immensely more important to the world of computing, but Steve Jobs made things prettier and was rich as hell. This made Steve Jobs famous to the masses and Dennis Ritchie only known among nerds like us.

Sigged for great justice.

If it means greater functionality, do it. But most importantly, give them the best service possible. Amazon has made many moves that are in line with this principle. The company has thrived, and the customers are generally very happy.

When you contrast this with Mr. Jobs's approach of "I want to make a ding in the universe" you will see the two are very uncommon. Jeff wants happy customers (and employees) and Steve wanted to be so large that the universe would take notice. Very different people, really. In fact, Steve often laughed at Jeff's ideas, and then had to eat humble pie when he was wrong. The best example of this is when Steve told Jeff the Kindle would be a tremendous failure.
it seems like ol' stevie was jealous and afraid of not only android but of amazon too

We don't need a next Steve Jobs. It's a matter of publication technique. Journalists know how to get the reader's attention. Referencing public figures is one way to do it. People like reading about what they know.

As an inventor, Jobs had some good ideas. As a person, Jobs was an ass. I wouldn't want to be refereed to as the "next" Jobs.
