I don't think we need another Steve Jobs, we need someone better. Someone who promotes competition to make them work harder to be better then there competition. Apple the company tarnishes Jobs name, but Jobs still didn't want competition.

The technology world creates amazing and life changing things when creators work TOGETHER. I think of it as the Google way, open source!

This is a fluff piece, I wouldn't be surprised if this is some sort of paid advertisement for Amazon. Steve Jobs was an icon, love him or hate him, who was probably one of the most well known CEO's in America. Bezos, while known to many people in the tech industry, is a relative unknown to most Americans. His company, while popular, does not have the same kind of mind share or cachet among consumers. His company also tends to follow the pack versus innovate themselves, the last real innovation Amazon did was to start selling books online.

Anyway, I like Amazon and I shop sometimes at Amazon but this article is stupid and meaningless, in my opinion at least.

Well, there goes the hopes of seeing low cost AMD chips and GPUs if he really does become the next Steve Jobs.

Apple and Amazon are just completely different companies. Apple sells very expensive gadgetry with a huge profit margin (even more so in Europe than in the US, though they're hardly the only ones guilty of this). Amazon on the other hand sells pretty much everything at very reasonable prices and ships it all to your door for free or for a small fee (or a large one if it's a third party selling trough Amazon). So comparing Jobs to Bezos is like comparing apples (no pun intended) to oranges.
I personally like Amazon very much, it's very convenient and easy to use and your good are delivered fairly fast (within 3 days over here, since it has to bve shipped from Germany). That said, I love my iPad just as much and I can't really imagine life without it anymore.

Development is key to the future and this guy, out of a garage, managed to take this on and change the world we live in and its future.

Ok so where is Dennis Ritchie's credit because I think he has a lot of credit due to him but he hasn't received any of it. I would say that what he has given the world totally defeats anything Apple and Steve Jobs has ever done and going back to what frickfrock said, why can't he be the next Dennis Ritchie?

As for the Kindle Fire? Kindle Fire > all other pads. Just for the fact that it comes with so much free media and a specific purpose. It's not just a fancy gadget for no reason. It has a purpose, a very specific one and it'll be my first tablet.

Until the Kindle Fire, I never really knew what I'd use a pad for except as a tech show-n-tell gadget. I already know how I'll be using the Fire.

What does Apple produce that we actually "Need" as oppose to "Want". His company made the Ferrari's of tech gadget products, trendy etc...To great success no doubt.

Reminds me of the old BASF commercials "At BASF we make other companies products better"

I am actually insulted that they compared Bezos to Jobs. Horrible comparison in my honest opinion. Bezos cares about the customer, Jobs created a cult following with marketing strategy. Bezos provides a great experience for a fair sum of money, Jobs provided overly priced hardware based on what he thought people would pay for it.

Job = Marketing God

Bezos = Offer the customer the greatest experience possible at a reasonable price

Just my opinion
