Looking to update from 2405FPW

Thread Starter
I bought a Dell 2405FPW back in the day when they were OMGBBQ 31337. That was 2005, I think, and things have changed quite a bit. I'm working with that and a 15" Dell LCD in portrait mode for full page text off to the side (reading manuals, coding references, etc). I do everything on the 24"; gaming, web design, code, etc. But the only important purchasing requirement is gaming performance. Right now the game of choice is Battlefield 3 (duh) and I'm getting between 40-50fps. I have no plans of upgrading my cpu/gpu in the immediate future so I don't need 120Hz I guess? I don't watch full length movies or any of that stuff on it.

So I'm looking for recommendations on these core things:
Gaming performance (quick refresh)
24" size
16:10 if at all possible
Adjustable for height
HDCP over DVI-D
~$300 range, I'll pay more for more monitor than I need now if it has future potential

Thanks for the rec. I do like my Dell, and the Ultrasharp line seems to get great reviews. They don't mention much about gaming performance, and 8ms seems a little sluggish, no? Does IPS make up for the less than stellar response time?

I forgot to add HDCP feature requirement so I edited the post.

I can't comment on the response times, but the UltraSharp U2412m is supposed to be better for gaming (less ghosting/faster response and less input delay) than the UltraSharp U2410 is, despite those numbers. I am not bothered by the input delay of mine, but the response/ghosting leaves a little to be desired. It's not terrible though.

Can someone comment on this quote from the review posted above? FPS and racing games is what I do (about 70/30).
Quote:
Dell U2412M has less motion blur than U2410, but more overdrive trailing. The latter is easier to spot in FPS or racing games but the difference is not significant. However, we still recommend 120 Hz TN panels for gaming. Another problem with U2412M is the crystalized coating on the IPS panel that continues to annoy some users but this is a general thing for IPS based monitors.

I think I've heard the overdrive thing is overblown with the UltraSharp U2412m, something about certain tests exaggerating them, when real world use is less of an issue, but I don't speak from experience.

The rest roughly seems to match what I've heard, and it sounds like it still has rather aggressive AG coating.
