MSI 560TI Hawk

This card is screaming when playing BF3. Think the temps are hitting 90C or even higher. Does this sound like a card issue or just to be expected?

Have you tried cranking up the fan speed? I don't think 90c is going tot hurt it, but download MSI afterburner and put the fan speed at 100% and see if the temps drop.

No, I have not tried that, yet. I think the card might sound like a hovercraft if I do that, but I'll give it a try.

To me it just seems odd this game is pushing the card this far.

Depends on what fan speed to cool it. If the fan is at 100%, 90°C is extremely high. Try MSI Afterburner 2.2.0 Beta 8 to set the custom fan profile.

Actually, I was using that exact program. It is a gem for sure. I was hitting about 87 to 90% fan speed with the temps close to 90 or a bit over.

Thats not good. 90c at 90% fan speed isn't normal. Contact MSI, you might have a bad card.

I had that issue with one of my 460 hawks. Took the cooler off, replaced the piss poor TIM job.

Woah, it's time to take the HSF apart, clean up the stock paste and replace it with MX-3 or MX-4.

Did you experience significantly better cooling after doing this?

Also, does doing this void the warranty?
