Hard to input while day dreaming about BF3 right? lol

You can not and will NOT emulate a human brain. You can NOT emulate emotion, you can NOT emulate free thought, you can NOT emulate photographic memory, you can NOT emulate emotion paired with free thought. It's impossible. Side note, our brains function with chemicals, not calculations.

By the way this is how I see it. DON'T START ANY FLAMING OR SOME DUMB BS THIS IS MY VIEW, SO SIT DOWN AND LISTEN.

God created us, we can not out power God.
Man created computer.
Computer can NOT out power us.

However I love IBM. Very much.

Free thought is IMPOSSIBLE to emulate with just using CALCULATIONS.
I find nothing of value in your opinions or explanations; they're illogical and false. In fact, I find your use of all caps and huge fonts to be quite irritating, and kind of wish they would just remove your whole post altogether.

There, that's my view, as long as we're sharing.
Finally...

old, but if it's the same thing then they really really didn't simulate a brain.

Free thought is IMPOSSIBLE to emulate with just using CALCULATIONS.
A few points:
1) Your formatting is annoying.
2) The notion of god gets more absurd every day, month and year. Our species has long passed the need for our imaginary friends. No longer do we need explanations for thunder in the sky and fire from the mountains; we have peered into the very beginning of the cosmos and found that everything, truly everything is able to be explained and reasoned given the time and technology to figure it out.
More and more of the world realizes god doesn't exist on a daily basis. Every day that you wake up, atheist numbers are a new record.
3) We CAN and we WILL emulate a human brain some day. Just the same way that we're capable of accurate, advanced fluid simulations, protein folding simulations, and any of the thousands of things we now do that we didn't think would happen even 10 years ago.

You can 100% emulate free thought if you can create a perfect model of the brain. It will be done and it will be done well within our lifetimes; we simply don't have the GFLOPS required for it yet. Need to get up towards Exascale computing; we're closing in with 20 PFLOP installations happening now...that means we can expect to break 1 EFLOP in around 9 years. At that point, the time of the free thinking machine begins whether you want it or not. It is a logical progression; a new species will be born.

You better mentally prepare yourself for it, or your mind is going to melt when the time comes. THIS. WILL. HAPPEN.

We all have front row seats to the single most incredible thing that is going to happen on this planet since protein synthesis. The first, truly artificial beings.

What an unbelievably special time to be alive. You have no idea how lucky we all are that the collection of atoms that make us up took the form of a human and took it in this day and age.

In fact, if you measure our odds of witnessing this event in terms of Earth's age...you had a 0.0000025% chance that the molecules you're made of would be conscious in this time period to see it unfold.

Free thought is nothing but an immensly complex series of chemical and electric impulses.

Y'know, if I was so damn wrong, why did everyone get so uptight like their pullups are wet and mommy isn't around to change them? we've had 60 years to start working on emulating the human brain. With no avail. Wait, you guys are right, a whopping 4.5% in 2011. So we thinking 30% by 2017?

free thought has not been proven or disproven.

If you have ADHD you'll know what I'm talking about.

And, if you don't like my post formatting...tell it to someone who cares? Last I checked grammar nazi's got little to no snatch.

Y'know, why are you talking like sucha god damned redneck!

But anyway, way to respond to your post being completely dis proven by insulting the obviously correct people in a manner only accomplish able by a brain-dead orangutan? No, you are wrong, there is no need to try and defend your moot point now. No use in trying to tell us we're mad, and even less use telling us our "pullups are wet". You can stop posting now, your argument has been utterly and completely dis proven without a slight explanation of defense without pure ignorance.
