And everywhere you look, people who are reviewing Skyrim are giving it top scores, and some even say it's likely to be the best RPG of all time
I think PC_Only said it well here and I quote; http://www.ign.com/blogs/richarrj1/2...y-not-get-a-10
"You cleverly switch the peanut under the shells to stop us thinking of the real question:
How BAD do games like Skyrim have to be to not get a 9.0+? Because it comes from a big publisher? None of the STALKER games have got a 9.0, none of the Gothic's or The first Witcher either. Many sites did not give The Witcher 2 9.0 or above either.
It seems a great game from a smaller publisher is 8 point something, and a great game from a big publisher is a 9.5 plus!
Now add to that the biased content of reviews when the game comes from a large company. Let's look at Oblivion: Was the cookie cutter caves, forts and ruins mentioned? Was the ridiculous NPC levelling mentioned? Was the Radiant AI being nowhere near as good as Bethesda had said in interviews and with trailers mentioned? Was the ridiculous "personality wheel" mentioned? Or were they all glossed over or ignored completely? Exactly! We don't read anything about these things in the 90%+ reviews at the time, but were hearing all about them now that Skyrim is due out - to show how "extra perfect" Skyrim is!
I wonder what the media will find so terribly wrong with Skyrim in 3-4 years when Elder Scroll VI is due out in a month or less? Whatever they find, you can bet you're bottom dollar that none of them will be mentioned in the reviews of Skyrim in 10 days or so!"
