Original Oblivion without expansions was something like 4GB (I think SI was 1.5 and KON was idk... something under 1GB).
While Skyrim's animations are miles better, graphics aren't THAT much... it's still really pretty IMO not just in the same league IMO as some FPS.
I'm barely concerned, even though I expected something like two double-layer disks (~17GB).
Like somebody before mentioned, Just Cause 2 is only 4 GB and it's map is insanely larger than any last three TES games. And graphics are one of the prettier that I've saw, same goes for Far Cry 2. I think that Oblivion and Skyrim's maps are around 16 square miles and map for JC2 is something like 400 square miles... Just a thought.
I'm personally more interested with content than visual stuff... I'm currently playing original TES Arena and frankly I'm suffering cause of all that uglyness still it's '94 but game feels like TES and I like it.
The biggest pro for TES games IMO is immersion... BUT not with graphics or sounds, it's the amount of guests... I've finished 214 Oblivion quests from GOTY edition, and that's where my love for Oblivion per say comes from, especially after going through awesome guild quests like from Assassin's Guild.
Graphics on Oblivion are still really pretty for me, and the most precious moments in the game that I hope they will preserve in Skyrim are night "walks". The sky is really pretty, everything is quiet, shadows are really nice and if you're in a tall place view is awesome, it might sound weird for some but sometimes when I meditate one of the places I visit (in my mind) is the Shivering Isles. Those weird colored skies really relaxes me. Ok enough with the weird talk.
To get back on subject, I think it's nothing to be worried about and I'm sure mods will take care of things that need to be taken care of, after all they've said that creation kit will be included. Yay!
