New cpu and replacement mobo but still problems

Thread Starter
So i have already made a thread about my system which wouldn't boot and after trying every bit of testing i knew along with the advice of people on here i still couldn't get my system to do much more than power up (no beeps, display..etc)

After sending in my old motherboard for RMA i was given a different model as a replacement because of not boot as it said on the included bit of paper. Upon installing the rest of my parts the system booted up just fine but of course gave me a windows errors and then preceded to restart constantly first after hitting a key to boot from the windows 7 disc and then when i was in the bios.

I then bought a new CPU and installed it but now my system is back to powering on but not giving me a beep or any display even when swapping cpu's back to the one that original semi-worked.

No matter what i try the PC won't boot up properly and that's when i run it as bare as possible inside and then outside my case i.e. 1 stick of ram, onboard graphics then gtx460, cpu and all required cables plugged in.

Right now i have no idea what's wrong. All i've done is try to boot up with all original parts, got the restarting problem, bought new CPU, then installed the new CPU and got to the point of being back to where i was albeit with a different board and both old and new CPU's

At least list your components so we can attempt to give some advice. No one has any idea what you are talking about with first knowing what we are dealing with.

Maybe the ram is bad. Do you have any other sticks laying around?

are you saying you've tried booting outside of the case successfully? If so, try removing 1 or 2 of the motherboard standoffs on your case's backplate and try again

At the moment i only have the 4 1gb sticks of ddr2 that were in my system previously. Did try and run them individually without luck.

After getting a replacement motherboard my system then posted just fine with the phenom II but would then restart whether i was trying to load up the windows 7 disc to install it or whether i was just in the bios. Having stopped testing for a few days till i got a new CPU i was then unable to get anything from either CPU except powering up from my system i.e. no display on any monitor and no posting or bios beeps but fan(s) would spin.

*Edit* I was able to boot outside and inside my case just fine with the Phenom II (Minus the restarting).

I think one of your motherboard standoffs may be shorting out your board.... try removing a couple and only keep the ones you absolutely need

are you troubleshooting with the 460 on? can you try using onboard video first?

make sure you set onboard as default or enabled.

I only have standoffs that are required by my board and it does the same thing outside my case.

Was using my onboard video to rule out the 460 as faulty so will try with my 460 again.
