Planning on Upgrading for BF3

As of now, I have these:
GTX 260
E8400 3.0 Ghz Dual Core Processor
4 Gigs of Ram
(The rest of the components are in my sig)

What I plan on buying:

GTX 460 - http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...&sku=E145-0464

Intel Core i5 - http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...4&sku=I69-2400

Asus P8P67 Motherboard ATX - http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...&sku=A455-3038

Corsair Vengeance 4 Gigs of Ram - http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...0&sku=C13-5701

Totals at $550 + shipping.

I wanna know if it's worth it to upgrade? How much of a improvement will you guys think I'll get? As of now, I get 20-30 FPS on Low in Battlefield 3 and I'm hoping to play on High with a constant FPS rate of 30-40+. Anyone with a similiar set-up giving me some info would be much appreciated!

Looks good but I think It would be better to add another $40 -$50 and get the GTX 470.

Should be enough. Do you plan on OC'ing that video card? According to the system requirements on the bfblog, it should be enough. I myself plan on upgrading my sig rig for bf3.

Nah I don't plan on OC'ing anything anytime soon. I'm gonna invest in a after-market CPU cooler in the future though. Possibly a new case too because this one is wearing down

You should be able to find a deal on a 2500k for that price or less. I know I've been seeing threads recently with the 2500k for $189 or less. Then you can make use of the P67 board and overclock it.

Edit: Also, if you have the time and patience, you can camp newegg open box GPUs for a 560 Ti for the same price as that 460 with better performance.

The Hawk:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...2E16814127578r is $144 and the regular TFII is $148.

I ran a single 560 Ti for the BF3 beta and it ran great at "ultra" (which wasn't really ultra).

Do you think it'd be restocked anytime soon? LOL

I run a q9300 at 3.5 ghz and gtx 460 1gb OC'ed to 840 core. My mp fps is generally 40-60, with an ocasional dip to 35 here or there. Settings is 1080p (well, slightly higher, monitor's native res 2048x1152) Ultra, no AA or ambient occlusion.

I'd try to get a good deal on a 560ti or 470 as mentioned and more ram if I were you, and the 2500k as mentioned.

Almost every day actually. Both the Hawk and the regular TFII are.

I watch them almost every day just to see, and I've seen the hawk stocked a little less than the regular TFII. If you use Chrome, get something like "auto refresh plus". They tend to re-stock in the afternoon. I actually got a Hawk yesterday around 3:30 I think. It was up for about 10 minutes so they must have had at least a few to sell.

The TFII I got a little while back came in the original packaging with everything un-opened. It can be a bit hit or miss though. Seems usually the MSI cards are pretty good, and if you need to RMA it, it's based on the serial number date.

I would spend the extra 10 or 15$ and get 8gigs of tam instead of 4. I have 4 and BF4 maxes it out, my friend who has 16 gigs only has 8gb free when he plays bf3.

Also, if you plan to get an aftermarket CPU cooler, you might want to check and make sure it'll fit with that ram. I'm not 100% sure, but those heat spreaders may get in the way depending on the cooler/motherboard.
