Help from an audio expert? Hooking up AMP

I am currently running a Marantz SR7400 receiver. I have in my garage a Niles SL-275 amplifier:
http://www.nilesaudio.com/product.ph...rdcdID=FG00770 My Marantz SR7400 does have pre-outs for all channels, although I am planning to run the Niles amp only for the front L/R as it is a stereo amp.

My questions are as follows,

1. How do I connect the SR7400 to the amp? From what I have read I connect the pre-out L/R channels to the inputs on my Niles SL-275. Is that correct?

2. How is volume controlled? Do I still control the volume with the Marantz SR7400?

3. I see on the back of the Niles unit that it can either be always on or use "voltage trigger". My Marantz has a "DC Out" on the back that seems to take the same 3.5mm connector. Do I connect the two and that turns the amp on when it is needed?

I would consider my audio knowledge to be "intermediate" so to speak, I know a good amount about basic home audio but many of the complexities I still need to learn. So any help OCN's audio experts can provide me is greatly appreciated!

Yes, the pre-out L/R will connect to the input on the amplifier - it's essentially a pass through between the receiver and your speakers. The volume will still be controlled via the receiver.

You are also correct about the DC out - turning on the receiver while the amp is set to use "trigger input" will turn them both on at the same time.
