New Crucial M4 in alienware m11x R3 - Funny Benchmark

Thread Starter
I wasn't sure where to post this - SSD forum seemed most appropriate. I recently purchased 2 M4s off Newegg for my desktop and laptop.

Specs for both machines are in my signature/profile (laptop is stock i5 core 6gb ram nvidia 540m). I ran the Atto and AS SSD benchmark tools on both machines. My desktop came out fine. Nothing mind blowing compared to all the other benchmarks in the sticky thread on here but my laptop....well that doesn't look quite right.

I used the SSD Tweaker tool I pulled off of here. I have the BIOS set to AHCI and I checked the registry; looks fine there as well.

I uninstalled any of the Intel Rapid Storage nonsense from the Alienware laptop and then benched. Results attached............

This is a fresh Windows 7 install. I either let windows find the drivers or visited Dell's site for any that were missing. Other than Steam and a few applications, this drive is clean as clean can get.

Any thoughts? My buddy stopped by and was confused too. I double checked that the drive was seated properly as well.

Is it using the 0009 Firmware? That is weird. What were the results after the full bench?

Yes, it's using the 0009 firmware.

I didn't let the last one finish it takes forever. Going to let it run while I am gone.

lol I wish that was the case. I ran Crystal Mark as well and for some reason those numbers came out just fine. Maybe it's something about how Atto and AS SSD run their tests.

What RAID controller you using?
its the HPET setting in your bios. the High Performance Event Timer, if the settings are changed or altered, you will get buggy benches that look cool

Will take a look. Don't remember any settings for that in this BIOS.

Not in RAID. Single drive in the laptop.
