125w CPU in a 95w Mobo?

Thread Starter
So... i am thinking about changing over my Desktop to Intel (I know... im sorry) Problem is... i just bought a Thuban 1090T. My LAN rig has a M4A88T-micro ITX mobo. It is 95w capable...the Thuban is 125. I dont want to waste the Thuban....

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...2E16813131659R is what i have

What would happen if i drop the Thuban on the 95W mobo....

If you dont oc it it should be fine

You would risk burning up the vrms that regulate power to the cpu. I would only do it if you undervolt the cpu.

The mobo currently has a 925 X4 OC'd to 3.47... so i would think droping in a X6 and not OCing... would atleast be as powerful....?

I dunno...

Underclock your CPU and don't fold on it.

What voltage do you have the 925 at? I would definitely get some vrm heatsinks.
