Extreme air cooling! - Page 3

Misleading title, this is not extreme at all. I was expecting some guy cooling cpus with a straw.

Anyways, can't wait to see the results! A guy did chilled water with a h50 back a few months ago and it had pretty astounding results.

I have decided to take my current heatsink (in sig) into the Freezer before I take whatever I buy in there. Because as xXSebasXx stated, it may have issues with unusually low temps.
One thing that might benefit a heat-pipe cooler in such a situation would be insulating the portions of the heat-pipes that are below the cooling fins and above the CPU block. This would ensure that the low ambient temperature does not freeze or cool the vapor prematurely(especially at idle). Will this make a difference? Hard to know, but with a very low ambient temperature, the differences will be more pronounced than at ambient.

Indigo X-Treme. From the charts it leaves Ceramique in the dust. Maybe a run with ceramique and a final run with the Indigo.

If you're going for a record/points may as well go all out.

Definitely subbed.

Hmm... I'm off to check that out. Thanks for the tip

EDIT: Although I rather doubt that 2-4C is going to make a difference (for $10 an application), I do know that afterward, if I hadn't used it, I would be plagued by constant thoughts of "what if I had another 2C headroom..." So I will be grabbing a 2 pack. Thanks for letting me know about this. rep'd

Got this in the mail today. Here's two crappy pics of one of the world's most powerful consumer grade 120mm fans

Due to the very large central hub, I think I will try mounting this with one of my broken Yate Loons used as a shroud.

Look forward to feeding it carrots

nice beast....

if you don't mind....
would you test the performance difference, with and without the shroud

Yes, I plan to test the thing to death. with/without shroud, with/without tape, and against some of the other fans I have. TBH, testing/benching are the only reasons I bought this fan, it's waaaaaaaaaaaaay to loud for everyday use. Although I will buy an NZXT Sentry Mix when they hit stores and see how quiet it can get when undervolted enough.

Hey Nnimrod, great fan you've there. Please use fan grill or fix the fan in a case because it likes eating fingers and it goes on hunting for them if it see some, believe me! :-O
