CM Storm Spawn Not All Its Cracked Up to Be - Page 5

Well, I'm pretty sure there's something loose in my Spawn. When I shake it, it sounds like there's a screw floating around in there. Guess I'll be getting an RMA next week from Amazon.

Turns out it's a pretty big dud in my book. The tracking is terrible depending on your mouse pad.

With firmware update 30a it tracks but has incredibly high lift off distance. It keeps tracking almost an inch off the mouse pad eek.gif

I'm posting this as a warning to other users. If you have a mousepad that is multi-colored DO NOT GET THIS MOUSE! It tracks horribly on anything that apparently isn't solid black.

I sort of expect that from mice today. For that reason, I use a [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Mionix-000MIOP-Propus-Mouse-Pad/dp/tags-on-product/B004LR2VKK"]Mionix Propus 380 Hard Black Mousepad[/ame] for both my Spawn and G9x (desktop, keyboard tray). Firmware 30a is indeed terrible with the LOD, but Firmware 31 and 32 both work wonderfully on it. Smooth like butter...and at 800 DPI too. thumb.gif

Good mouse, horrible drivers.

That deterred me at first but I just change the sensitivity in-game or through the .cfg file and there are no problems.

This is the best gaming mouse I've tried yet. Much more comfortable and slightly better tracking than the G9x.

Yeah, mine doesn't do that and is solid. Make sure they give you free shipping.

Oh wow, I haven't been on in a few days to check on this thread and boy has it grown.

Quick update to those of you that care. I decided to go back to my old mouse. A zowie ec2. It's the best mouse I've used to date for me personally. I tried to give the spawn a shot but the lod on my mouse pad was just a major issue for me. I was going to try out the xornet but apparently it has high LOD as well and its own set of problems. The shape was interesting and it certainly had potential. I'd don't understand why they don't just use a tried and true sensor like the deathadder uses. Just my 2cents. If I were CM storm and in charge i'd keep the shape and use the death adder sensor.

DA's sensor is exclusive for Razer and it's LOD is high too.
