What Ram to get?

Thread Starter
So im looking for 2 4gig sticks.

I will be replacing the CPU and GPU when the nvidia GTX680 is out with ivy bridge and will be over clocking them.

So far this ram looks ok? is there any thing else i should be looking at for ram? corsair seems to have a lot out with similar specs.

Are you looking for the best for the price or just the best in general? In reality, you wont notice a difference between CL8 and CL9 RAM. might as well get some Gskill CL9 1600MHz, they are the best for the price. If you are looking for THE BEST, the fastest ram out is Corsair Vengence CL7 1600MHz, it is faster than the higher clocked ram (2200MHz) because of the timings.

Check some of the Gskill RAM that's what I'm running and I'm really happy with it the timings are awesome too 7-7-7-21. Haven't checked a review on the Corsair H100 in awhile but might want to check out the Noctua NH-D14. This air cooler is simply amazing and quiet first time it ran I had to make sure the fans were turning. Keeping my idle down around 25C and 24hr Prime 95 load test at 48-51C. What more to say?

Either G.Skill Ripjaws Series or the set you have picked out are both good ram. Either one is good in my books and worth buying.

2000 MHz CL9 basic ram calculations will go as followed:
(9/1000) * 1000 = 9ns

1600 MHz CL7 basic ram calculations will go as followed:
(7/800) * 1000 = 8.75ns

1600 MHz CL8 basic ram calculations will go as followed:
(8/800) * 1000 = 10ns

1600 MHz CL9 basic ram calculations will go as followed:
(9/800) * 1000 = 11.25ns

You should just spend your money on a $50 CL9 2x4GB ram set you will not notice a difference. The calculations are in nanoseconds.

If you get ram with lower voltage(1.25v), it is supposed to be more overclockable than ones with 1.5v. Tight timings is always a must, most 1600MHz ram have tight timings.
